This Learning Track
Made Possible by
High Impact Learning
To maximize investments in learning and development, and to address the talent gap that many organizations face, performance-based learning changes behavior where it matters most. High- impact learning first examines the "linchpin positions" with the highest correlation between high personal performance and superior business performance, identifies what high performers do, what they know, how they think, and how they learn.

But closing a performance gap isn't as easy as creating a learning program around high performer skills and attributes. It is important to know who has high potential and how to target development programs to accelerate their transformation into high performers. Then organizations can leverage advanced learning strategies, such as structured coaching and mentoring, simulations and stretch assignments, to provide rapid and self-sustaining performance results. Today's high impact learning happens on the job through managers who know how to develop their staff talent. This track will cover how to move beyond traditional instructional systems design or organizational development strategy into the realm of high impact learning.

Title: The New Finish Line for Learning and Development
When:
Thu, Jul 23 2009 / 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM ET
Presented By: Andrew Jefferson , CEO and President , Fort Hill Company

There was a time when it was sufficient for Learning and Development to deliver a program that people rated highly and where they learning a lot. That is still necessary. But it is no longer sufficient to ensure continued funding.

In the current economic climate, training and development has to consistently produce positive business impact to compete successfully for resources. The goal posts have moved; delivering great learning is only the beginning. On-the-job results are the new finish line. The job of corporate learning is not done until measurable results are delivered.

To reach the new finish line, training and development professionals need new processes and tools to ensure more effective follow-through and learning transfer. In this lively and interactive session Andrew Jefferson, co-author of The Six Disciplines of Breakthrough Learning and Getting Your Money's Worth from Training and Development, will explain what expectations have changed and what it will take to successfully reach the new finish line.

Andrew will focus on the six disciplines practiced by highly effective learning organizations that drive follow-through and learning transfer. Each discipline provides a key to unlocking effective execution, strategic implementation, and increased return on learning investments.
